As a classically
trained viola player Andersen played in several classical
ensembles and orchestras but now devotes most of his time
to playing and performing roots music. Andersen performs
mostly as a "One Man Band" playing foot drums along with
his two instruments wich are his own homemade electric 3
string diddleybow guitars,
and a mean detuned electric 5 string violin. Main musical
influences are Jesse “The Lone Cat” Fuller, Sid Hemphill,
Jessie Mae Hemphill, R. L. Burnside, Mississippi Fred
McDowell and Johnny Shines. Three cd´s and tours at
different countries in Europe and shows all the way in the USA
under his belt, Andersen will throw a show like no other.
Nikolaj Andersen marks his name as first Danish blues act
at Kaavi Blues festivals history.
